Welcome to SALMON Home Page !
We, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), are conducting a research project for
Alaskan middle and upper atmosphere to investigate the earth's environment.
In this Web site, we present outlines of the "Alaska Project" and detailed
descriptions of our remote sensing instruments.
Observational data plots including the newest one are also available.
These scientific data enable us to understand various phenomena in the earth's
atmosphere and the space, such as aurora, ozone layer depletion, global
warming.
The observation data are transferred in quasi-realtime from Alaska to NICT in
Japan through an experimental high speed link for the next generation internet.
The Alaska Project is an international cooperative project between NICT and the
Geophysical Institute (GI) of University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF).
